We work in environments where there are often vulnerable children, young people and adults in the vicinity. All job roles will require the successful candidate to hold an Enhanced DBS. An up to date Paediatric First Aid certificate is desirable as well. Don't worry if you don't have one, we can organise that through our preferred suppliers.

Headteacher

Start date: September 2024 or earlier in discussion with the appointed candidate

Salary: Negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications.

ADO River Valley is a small outdoor independent therapeutic school for children and young people aged 14–19 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) KS4/5. The school offers 24 spaces and the young people at ADO River Valley have additional special educational needs and diagnoses. The school is looking for a new Headteacher who has the knowledge, energy and strategic leadership experience to build on its many strengths and lead it to long term sustained success.

Following the school's recent Ofsted grading (Good), there is a robust School Improvement Plan in place to ensure we maintain and work further to provide the highest standards of education and drive the standard of teaching, learning and development across all areas of the school to ensure the highest level of achievement for all students and continue our growth. The new Headteacher will be central to this success. Alongside your strategic and inspirational leadership, you will be supported by our SLT, and a resilient, hardworking, dedicated and innovative staff team. Our sister company, ADO Therapy work in a separate area onsite with Eco Therapy experts who are committed to the school culture utilising the outdoors, animals and wildlife to support engagement in education and wellbeing.  

ADO River Valley is part of ADO Services C.I.C. specialisms for supporting autistic children and young people especially those who have associated social, emotional and mental health needs. ADO River Valley places equal emphasis on academic input and therapeutic support, and believe that grades and qualifications should not be the sole measure of success for its students. It ensures that its learners gain relevant, nationally-recognised qualifications alongside developing the necessary independence and life skills required to enable them to follow pathways to a meaningful career and fulfilling adulthood.

This is a fantastic opportunity that will require excellent knowledge of SEND and SEMH education and a proven track record of successful senior leadership. You may be seeking your first headship or be an experienced Headteacher looking for a new challenge, we are looking for an inspirational and positive leader who loves nature and the outdoors and is fully invested in how outdoor education can support young people with SEMH to achieve their potential. You will be innovative, solution focussed, and a creative thinker, who can support colleagues to meet the diverse needs and changing requirements of our young people’s education, care, and learning needs.

You will provide vision, leadership and management for the school team, ensuring continual improvement and development in all that the school offers to provide engaging and fulfilling learning experiences for all students whilst supporting growth in student numbers for the sustainability of the school.
